Water Bear Formal Wear
04:26
|
|||
There are no hypochondriac dogs
There are no megalomaniac frogs
There are no buildings made out of air
There are no dances for water bears
Requiring formal wear
As they glide along across the floor
Their favorite song blasts across the room
As they gaze into the eyes of their tardigrade love
There are no stars of hot flaming ice
There are no demon spawn that are nice
There are no taco stands on the moon
There are no assassins wielding spoons
As they make their move
Taking down some V.I.P. they've been hired to kill
By some rival who hopes to gain something he lacks
Scene fades to black
There are no dodos left anymore
There are no breakdancing dinosaurs
There are no weekends that are too long
There are no more words left in this song

Well I know nobody's perfect and I haven't been a saint
I've done my share of stupid stuff sometimes along the way
But I don't want to waste time trying to rationalize those things
Because that's really not a hill I want to die upon
I wish that I'd been kinder and I wish I hadn't sulked
I wish I'd had compassion more I wish I'd been more bold
But no amount of wishing hard will ever make it so
Because that ship set sail a long long time ago
And so instead I'll dream of things like trees in spring
And lush pristine coasts
I've changed my mind about a lot of stuff I thought before
Maybe I was ignorant or maybe just not sure
If our thinking can't evolve then what the hell's experience for?
And there's lots of better hills that one could die upon
I see junipers and douglas firs
Covered in white snow
I'm tired of looking backwards I want to see what lies ahead
When I can't change the deeds I've done or any word I said
Cause if you can't keep moving on you may as well be dead
And there's many miles to go before I go to bed
And so I'll look around from sky to ground
And take in everything

Just after the rain stopped falling I made my way outside
Rich and earthy scent filled the air stopped me in mid-stride
Dancing around the puddles as they reflect the world back up at me
I'm getting wet from water still dripping down from all the leaves in the trees
Off in the distance there's still grey clouds looming
But they're floating away where they'll go I can't say
But they're gone for today and the world's coming back to life
Full of new energy
Blue skies are arriving now and I can see the sun
Water all around me but all the turbulence is done
There's nothing like the feeling after a strong and cleansing rainstorm has come
Birds re-emerge and start to call out and sing their complex warbling songs
I hear the echo of a faint thunderclap
But it's just rolling away leaving radiant sunrays
Everything is okay and the world's being born again
Refreshed and clean again

There are many songs that don't exist today
They haven't been written yet and so we cannot play them
But someday they will be here floating freely along
There'll be songs for everyone and songs for everything
But they still don't exist right now and so we cannot sing them
But think about how all that music will sound as it plays
We can channel all the songs if we keep open minds
Maybe they're out there already and we just have to find them
Think of a song and we'll all sing along with it now

Kansas... Kind Of
03:47
|
|||
Got dragged out of Kansas one time
Carried by the wind somewhere so far away to some other place
I lost all sense of normal back then
Spent too many years just sitting on the fence 'cause nothing made sense
No matter how I twisted my mind up
Got tempted by a devil one time
Tried to buy me off with many shiny things and a pair of wings
Finally decided I'd hit the road
No thanks, Mr. Devil that's just not for me got somewhere to be
So I got back on my feet and I walked
This almost looks like Kansas again
Maybe kind of sort of but got a long way to go I'm still far from home
Never thought I'd see Kansas again
This seems kind of similar but I'm not there yet and I won't forget
No matter how I twisted up my mind

Something seems familiar about tonight
Fifteen years ago he first took flight
And kept buzzing on his way
Yellowjacket saves the day
With his stinger he will slay his foes
Wings of silver know no earthly woes
As he zooms around the sky
Go on Yellowjacket fly
Can you see him buzzing everywhere?
As he takes his flight across the air
Fifteen more years may he fly
Saving worlds for you and I
